Timber

Malbrook Conservatories fully appreciates the importance of selecting durable timber of the highest quality for our Conservatories, Orangeries and Roof Lanterns. Appropriate hardwoods are chosen from sustainable sources and all sections are machined and assembled using traditional joinery methods, reflecting our attention to details. All timbers meet BS1186.

The timber sections are selected for strength and durability and are finished in a wide range of stains or paint colours to suit your property.

Glazing

All Malbrook Conservatories’ units are manufactured and toughened to British Standards and are kite marked and meet BS6206 as required by Building Regulations. All units are Low Emissivity (Low ‘E’ glass as standard).

Double glazed roof units are constructed using 6mm toughened safety glass incorporating a 16mm airspace – one of the highest specifications in the industry.

Roof glass is held in specially formed rafter gaskets to guarantee a weather tight seal, and under aluminium rafter caps, which are polyester powder coated and provide a maintenance free roof construction. The roof caps are coated to complement your Orangery, Conservatory or Garden Room.

Wall units are constructed using 4mm toughened safety glass incorporating a 12mm airspace as standard.

For most Glazed Extensions Malbrook recommends the use of our special low emissivity insulating glass together with Argon gas filling to double-glazed units. Advances in technology allow us to offer further options including self-cleaning, tinted and solar control glass.

Flat Roofs

Modern designs for Orangeries and Roof Lanterns can require quality flat roof construction as part of the appropriate design. Malbrook can construct insulated flat roof areas with a variety of finishes to complement the surroundings, including fibreglass and more traditional materials where required, such as lead.

Lead work and flashing

Where the Conservatory or Orangery abuts the house, we provide and install all lead flashing and box gutters where necessary. Code 4 lead is used for most flashings, whilst lead, reinforced EPDM (a type of single ply weatherproofing) or similar may be used for box gutters and valleys.

Painting and finishing

All Malbrook Orangeries, Conservatories and Garden Rooms are painted, or stained, with two coats of micro-porous paint in the workshop and the final coats are applied on site by our fitters. Choice of colour is entirely at the clients' wish using environmentally friendly paints.
